In order to slowly adapt to their new environment, all lynx in the project are kept in an enclosure in the middle of the Thuringian Forest for around 2-4 weeks before being released into the wild. This procedure is known as a “soft release”. Our soft release enclosure consists of two compartments so that two lynxes of different sexes can be housed at the same time and can get to know each other. The enclosure is now ready and awaits its first inhabitants.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our colleagues from ThüringenForst, who made the construction of the enclosure possible, even in sometimes very harsh winter conditions.
