The ‘Luchs Thüringen’ project team is currently preparing for the next release into the wild. At the end of August, one-year-old male lynx Carlo is to be released into the Thuringian Forest.

Carlo comes from Karlsruhe Zoo, where he grew up in a large, natural enclosure. Through the targeted breeding of lynxes for reintroduction projects, Karlsruhe Zoo is making an important contribution to the conservation of the species in Europe. Carlo coped well with the transport to Thuringia. He has recently been living in the release enclosure in the Thuringian Forest, where he is being looked after by ThüringenForst employees. He seems to feel at home in his new surroundings. He eats regularly and can get used to the smells and sounds of his new home in peace and quiet in the protected enclosure.

At the end of August, he is set to become the sixth lynx in the project to be released into the Thuringian Forest.
